PROJECT BRIEF
Transform a local restaurant or eatery into a fully realized food truck experience by designing a cohesive truck wrap, a menu card/board, and to-go containers that align with the restaurant’s identity and culinary style.
APPROACH
I chose a local Italian restaurant located in Northwest Indiana. This restaurant is housed in a historic Victorian home and is named after the Renaissance woman Lucrezia. For my design, I aimed to blend elements from both Italian and Victorian styles, which is reflected in my choice of patterns and motifs. In the 1800s, an opera was written about Lucrezia, portraying her as a villainous femme fatale who poisoned men. As a nod to this iconic woman and the rumors surrounding her, I selected the poisonous Angel’s Trumpet flower as a key design element. This motif appears at the ends of the vine-shaped lines and features prominently on the menu and packaging.
The typography and the illustrated compact mirror, which showcases Lucrezia’s eye, further reinforce the femme fatale persona, drawing inspiration from 20th-century Italian advertising posters. The full illustration is used on the top view of the food truck, while the circular shape from the mirror serves as a versatile branding element, appearing as a sticker on to-go bowls, bags, the side of the food truck, and pins.
